Project Portfolio
A key activity for the Alliance is to undertake projects for the benefit of the logistics and supply chain industry sectors. The Alliance develops project teams from among its participants to address issues identified by its Research Steering Committee. All participating research institutions will have representation on the Research Steering Committee with a chair for this committee chosen from amongst participating institutions.
The alliance engages with industry and/or government to undertake projects winch are submitted to the Research Steering Committee for consideration, allocation, and project management. The alliance “contracts” the components of research projects and research activities to various participants.
To maintain overall management responsibility for each activity notwithstanding that there are selected project managers responsible for day-to-day project operations.
To cover its costs and to assist it in funding other activities the Alliance will apply a management fee on each successfully funded project activity to fund the Alliance operations.
Project activities are funded on a case-by-case basis – taking the form of projects where individual participating institutions choose to contribute, fund and participate in an activity. Benefits arising from these activities will be preferentially available to project partcipants, but more generally transferred into the industry.
In each Project, the Alliance seeks to strengthen and build its Intellectual Property portfolio to ensure that developments are available to its participants.
